The North Gauteng High Court has made final an interim order barring former radio presenter Ngizwe Mchunu from making defamatory allegations against Julius Malema, effectively prohibiting him from repeating claims that the Economic Freedom Fighters leader received millions from Nigerian drug dealers and protected undocumented immigrants for money.
Proceedings on Tuesday centred on whether the interim order granted on 12 May should be made permanent.

Advocate Mfesane Ka-Siboto, representing Malema, argued that Mchunu had failed to provide any legal basis for the order not to be confirmed and had continued making remarks despite the earlier court ruling.
The ruling follows an urgent application brought by Malema after Mchunu made explosive allegations during interviews and public appearances in Pretoria and Johannesburg in April.
