STAFF REPORTER|

ECONOMIC Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema on Tuesday called for the removal of both President Cyril Ramaphosa and Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana following their much-publicised scandals.

Ramaphosa is facing a political storm over the theft incident at his Phala Phala game farm, which was exposed in June by the former head of the State Security Agency, Arthur Fraser, who filed charges against the president for allegedly concealing the crime.

Godongwana, on the other hand, is equally facing a political backlash after a Kruger National Park masseuse laid a criminal complaint against him for allegedly fondling her while she was giving him a massage in his hotel room.

“The EFF reaffirms its stance on the need to hold Cyril Ramaphosa accountable, for the crimes committed on Phala Phala Farm,” said Malema on Tuesday while addressing the media, following the EFF Central Command Council meeting over the weekend in Johannesburg.

“The EFF will not get tired, and will ensure that Ramaphosa does not finish his term of office. We thus, call on all principled members of the opposition, and civil society, to join in ensuring that Ramaphosa does not get away with the crimes he has committed.”

Malema also called for the immediate resignation of Godongwana following his sexual harassment case, on top of his complete failure of managing the South African economy.

“If Godongwana had any respect for the Office he holds, and the women of this country, he would have long resigned – but, he has not done so because, he draws inspiration from his criminal President, who is unrepentant in the face of calls for accountability,” said Malema.

Malema said Godongwana was failing in his job as Finance Minister, claiming that he was insisting on staying in his role even though he knew that “his health condition is not in good condition”.

“The continued stay of Enoch Godongwana in office is a spit in the face of the 9 516 victims of rape, who opened cases at police stations between April and June 2022,” said Malema.

“It is also a reflection that we are led by a government which has no regard for women. It is a government of a finance minister who abuses women in their places of profession.

“It is a government of a president who tortures a female domestic worker because of his uncontrollable greed.”
