President Cyril Ramaphosa has met with the members of the National Planning Commission (NPC) at his Mahlamba Ndlopfu official residence in Tshwane.
The Commission briefed the President on progress made and challenges encountered since the commencement of their term in 2015.
“The commission will update the president on indicators used to measure the implementation of the National Development Plan (NDP) and will report on the review of the National Development Plan,” Presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko said in a statement.
The NPC’s mandate includes promoting and advancing the implementation of the NDP, undertaking detailed planning in a selected number of sectors.
There is also regular engagements with various sectors of society on the long-term development strategy for the country.
It is also tasked with undertaking research into long-term trends and analysing the implementation of short to medium term plans.
It’s mandate further includes making recommendations to government as well as drafting reports to inform policy and planning.
The Commission also facilitates stakeholder engagements aimed at forging a social compact towards more effective implementation of the NDP, as well as developing international partnerships and networks.
