EFF Commander-in-chief (CIC) leader Julius Malema has called on the party structures to be on standby all the time to address the needs of communities while speaking at the North West Ground Forces Forum in Mahikeng.
Malema cautioned EFF leaders from listening to disgruntled residents during the election period only and told his supporters that they need to support the IEC staff members to ensure that they are not COSATU members.
“We must make sure that staff members of the IEC are not SADTU members, because COSATU said it’s going to support the ANC, and SADTU is an affiliate of COSATU”.
Malema’s address was part of the EFF’s Mayihlome phase, ahead of next year’s National and Provincial elections.
“All North West municipalities have collapsed. There is no better municipality, others are worse because they can’t generate their income. They have no means of revenue.
“A ground force must be guided by revolutionary morality. So don’t love your people because you’re going to elections and after elections, you don’t care about your people.”
The EFF has footprints in 403 wards in the province. The party is confident that it will win the hearts of the people of the province.
EFF National Spokesperson Sinawo Tambo said the party has been doing well in the North West.
“We’ve been winning by-elections most recently, as an exhibition of our ability to govern and the faith our people in the North West have in us.
“Right now as we speak EFF is the official opposition here in the North West and we only expect that to be entrenched in terms of our reach and impact in the province.”
Malema also slammed President Cyril Ramaphosa over the rising number of gender-based violence incidents since the introduction of GBV summits.
The summits, launched by Ramaphosa during the time of Covid-19, aim to address the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide in the country.
But Malema said since the GBV summit, the numbers of GBV (cases) have tripled in South Africa to a point where yesterday we were observing a boy in a university, beating and stabbing a girl.
“This shows that GBV is out of control. Yet, when that guy got elected, he said he is going to fight GBV,” said Malema.
