ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa congratulated the party’s Western Cape members for holding a peaceful 9th Elective Conference.
Ramaphosa also told delegates that the party’s main aim is unity, bringing an end to factions and focusing on doing better during the 2024 elections.
“We need to fix the problems inside the ANC so that we can effectively address the challenges facing our people,” Ramaphosa said in his closing remarks on Sunday night.
He assured the conference that the BRICS Summit will happen in South Africa in August and said he will later address how the government will address the issue of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his ICC warrant of arrest.
Vuyiso Tyhalisisu is the newly elected ANC Chairperson in the Western Cape and defeated Cameron Dugmore who got 282 with 311.
Tyhalisisu is the former ANC Dullah Omar regional secretary and he said the party will not be adopting a business as usual approach when working toward the 2024 elections.
Top of his agenda will be to win back the province from the DA, he said.
The Deputy Chair went to Sharon Davids and the Secretary is Neville Delport.
Ayanda Bans is the Deputy Secretary and was elected unopposed as was treasurer Derek Appel.
