ANC Not In Talks With Anyone

Must read

Jonathan Paoli

ANC General-Secretary, Fikile Mbalula, reiterated, during a media briefing on the NEC meeting outcomes, that the ANC is not considering any coalition talks with other political parties.

Mbalula went on to say that “the ANC is focusing on achieving an outright victory in the forthcoming 2024 elections.

“Accordingly, we are therefore not engaging in any coalition talks with any party – all hands are on deck to get an overwhelming mandate to continue with the democratic transformation agenda we started in 1994.”

However, Mbalula’s latest utterances contradicts his earlier assertions at the ANCYL Nasrec Conferene where he said “as the ANC, review this marriage we have with them (EFF) here in Johannesburg … We can’t go with people who want to see us out of power. We’d rather go with the DA, fully aware that here’s the enemy and then when we meet them after the election that will be it.”

Mbalula’s statement comes in the light of  increasing tensions between the ANC and the EFF, following a letter to Mbalula from Jongizizwe Dlabathi, the leader of the ANC caucus in Ekurhuleni wherein they said they believed there was “no strategic value” in working with the EFF.
