THE ANC has temporarily withdrawn its motion of no-confidence in the mayor of Tshwane, Cilliers Brink following his court victory on Thursday where he successfully challenged the legality of the motion.
The vote on Brink’s future as the Tshwane mayor was set to take place on Friday.
However the ANC secretary George Matjila said the withdrawal was temporary, as another motion would be tabled in September.
“We are respecting the legal issues that are pending, and within a period of weeks, we think we will be able to come back and conclude the business.
“We’ve agreed in principle that the motion that has been put is going to be temporarily withdrawn so that we deal with the side issues that are creating an impediment for all of us,” He said
ActionSA said however, that the withdrawal provides it with adequate time to conclude its internal review of positions within the multi-party coalition in the City of Tshwane.
In a statement on Thursday ActionSA Gauteng Provincial Chairperson Funzi Ngobeni said his party is in the process of concluding its consultations with its Gauteng Provincial Executive and caucus members in the City of Tshwane and it will embark on an oversight visit to assess the level of service delivery in various regions in Tshwane.
“Once the review process is concluded, ActionSA will be in position to communicate our position in the City of Tshwane,” he said.
