By Levy Masiteng

In the lead up to former Cabinet minister Pravin Gordhan’s funeral on Thursday, South Africans wishing to express their condolences to his family can do so in Pretoria.

A book of condolence is available for members of the public to write in at the office of the Department of Public Enterprises, said Minister in the Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Maropene Ramokgopa.

“It is fitting that we honour the legacy of an activist and stalwart. The book of condolence is one way for South Africans and citizens of the world to remember former minister Pravin Gordhan,” said Ramokgopa.

“His fearlessness and unwavering commitment to good governance will forever be remembered.”

The book will be available until Thursday when the minister will be buried in Durban.

President Cyril Ramphosa announced on Monday that he had declared a Special Official Funeral Category 2 in honour of the late struggle and Cabinet veteran.

The funeral service will take place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre and will be followed by a private cremation in line with his Hindu beliefs.
