Chidimma Adetshina, the Miss SA contestant has bowed down to pressure and withdrawn from the competition after the Patriotic Alliance instituted an urgent interdict to stop her from participating in the pageant.
This comes after Home Affairs discovered that Chidimma’s mother, who is of Mozambican descent, may have committed fraud and identity theft on a South African woman to obtain South African citizenship.
The department has broadened its investigation to identify and pursue any officials involved, in addition Home Affairs intends to file criminal charges against those involved.
Adetshina posted her statement stating that she had stepped down from the pageant on her Instagram page.
“I would like to start off by thanking everyone who has stood beside me right from the start of my Miss South Africa journey. I’m really grateful for all the love and support I have been shown…After much careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the competition for the safety and wellbeing from (sic) my family and I,” Chidimma said.
