Correctional Services seeking legal advice on Concourt Zuma Judgement

THE Department of Correctional Services says it is seeking legal advice following the Constitutional Court’s dismissal of the SCA medical parole appeal.

On Thursday, the Constitutional Court dismissed an application for leave to appeal against the decision of the Supreme Court on former President Jacob Zuma’s medical parole.

The highest court in the land said the appeal bears no reasonable prospects of success.

“The Department of Correctional Services is seeking legal advice and will comment further in due course,” Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said in a brief media statement.

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa has called for a “political solution” including consideration for a presidential pardon.

The Constitutional Court decision means that the Correctional Services Commissioner will now have to decide if Zuma should go back to prison in line with the original SCA ruling.

The former South African President Jacob Zuma is currently traveling to Russia and later China.
