The Democratic Alliance on Gauteng has accused Premier Panyaza Lesufi of corruption, claiming that he has been withholding reports into forensic investigations dating as far back as 2019.
“Our pleas have fallen on deaf ears, and instead, we have been given empty promises year after year regarding the release of these reports,” DA Gauteng leader Solly Msimanga told reporters on Tuesday.
“On Friday, we once again wrote to the Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, requesting that all completed forensic reports be made public,” he said, saying that the same request was made last month.
Inside Politics contacted the premier’s office, but at the time of publishing there was no response our questions.
Msimanga told reporters that this a way of protecting corrupt politicians and government officials.
He said reports such as those on AngloGold Ashanti and Tembisa Hospital had been made public, but the party was still waiting for others.
“The lifestyle audits that Premier Lesufi claims have been completed have not been made public. For the last two years, we have been assured that this process has been completed,” Msimanga said.
He said the party planned on reporting Lesufi to the Public Protector, claiming that 100 reports were allegedly being concealed.
