IN a media briefing on Sunday, EFF President Julius Malema outlined the party’s plans of winning an outright victory in the coming elections, in line with the people and not coalitions, he said.
The Commander-in-Chief was updating the media on the outcomes of the 20th Central Command Team meeting of the 2nd National People’s Assembly held earlier in Kempton Park.
Malema outlined the party’s “Road to Victory” Manual which presents the phases of their approach to elections, namely the Mayihlome, Mamela and Tshela Thupa phases.
The Mayihlome phase entails the systematic conversion of party structures into elections task forces, with the primary responsibility of organising, mobilising and coordinating all work in relation to the elections, with the Central Command Team (CCT) being converted into the Central Elections Task Force (CETF) and similarly down the party structure until the end of elections and the reinstatement of the constitutional structures.
In addition, the Mayihlome phase includes the formation of dedicated elections and mobilisation committees which include a Manifesto drafting committee, Youth and Students committee, Women and Workers Mobilisation committees, among others that the party claims will ensure maximal impact in the 2024 Elections.
The second phase, Mamela, will include a period where all EFF Ground Forces and the organisation as a whole will engage in consultations with communities and sectors of South Africa on what should be included in the People’s Manifesto.
Malema said that the People’s Manifesto will form the foundation of the EFF’s campaign agenda, following public communication by the party as well as consultation with people on the ground over the contents and substance of the manifesto.
The Mamela phase will further include physical consultations with various sectors of society as well as holding seminars on electricity, job creation, crime and the creative industry.
This phase will culminate in the launch of the EFF Elections Manifesto in February 2024, which will be the beginning of the last phase the party has named the Tshela Thupa phase.
Malema said that this last phase will commence with the launching of the People’s Manifesto and will be defined by aggressive and intense campaigning, centering on the party principle of Person-to-Person, or Umuntu Emuntwini.
Furthermore, Malema said that the EFF has no plans in terms of coalition politics with other recent groupings such as the Multi-Party Charter recently launched.
“We are entering this election season with the aim of outright victory, and that is why we are not bordered by right wing coalitions and attempts of the ruling party to determine the contents of their exit from power. We are and remain the future of South Africa,” Malema said.
The president criticised the coalition as merely two faces of the same head, namely white monopoly capital in the form of the Oppenheimers, in addition to referencing coalitions with the ANC as merely methods for the disgraced ruling party to pave its own exit.
