EFF leader Julius Malema said on Friday that the party was ready to take over KZN during the upcoming elections, and that research showed the ANC will not get anything beyond 25% in the province.

The red berets called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to immediately announce the election date for the 2024 National and Provincial Elections, as there was no logical or reasonable excuse to prolong this announcement any longer.

“Ramaphosa must accept that his term that has been defined by failure has come to an end, and give the nation a firm election date so it can prepare itself for a future that does not include him,” Malema said.

Malema said that party’s targets in preparation for this year’s elections were fully met, and confirmed that as of 2 January, all of the country’s 4 368 wards had functional Branch Elections Task forces (BETFs), with 76 020 members who were leading elections machinery at ward level.

In terms of Voting Districts Elections Task Forces, Malema said that 481 649 volunteers have been verified and audited in all 23 296 Voting districts in the country.

Malema said that the year’s elections is expected to be a turning point in the history of SA’s politics and that the party would be at the centre of the monumental change.

“We know that right wing forces, which are funded and coordinated by the white capitalist establishment, are hard at work to prevent the EFF from ascending to political power in 2024,” Malema said.

Malema said that the party was affirmed in their long-held view that at the centre of the collapse of the Higher Education Sector was Blade Nzimande, who has now been exposed through leaked voice recordings for having secret meetings with service providers, who allegedly donated more than R1 million to the SACP during his tenure as its General Secretary.

“Nzimande has been anti-students ever since he was placed in that Department for factional reasons, and has established it as his personal wallet which he uses to practice patronage and enrich himself,” he said.

Lastly, the party encouraged all South Africans to register at the second voter registration weekend, which is expected to be held by the IEC on 3 and 4 February.
