BONGANI Baloyi, former leader of ActionSA in Gauteng, has launched a new political party called Xiluva.
Baloyi, who recently resigned as Action SA Gauteng chairperson, says the party is founded on the values of family, Ubuntu and multi-racialism.
He launched the party on Thursday alongside Thlolegi Moseki, who resigned this week as an ActionSA Ekhuruleni councillor and caucus leader.
The Xitsonga word Xiluva means flower in English.
“We will contest the 2024 General Elections with this new political party called Xiluba,” he announced.
He said the party will champion challenges faced by young people, such as unemployment.
Baloyi said: “I cut my teeth under the DA, and it made me grow as a leader, I also learned and grew in ActionSA- “Change is far too slow in SA”.
He said Xiluva was born out of a “sense of political homelessness, hopelessness and desperation: South African identity and sense of nationhood.”
“Xiluva will contest in the 2024 national and provincial government elections. Our work is cut out for us, we don’t have time on our side. We are clear about the ground we need to traverse in order to package our offer to voters”.
Moseki, who has been appointed as the new national chairperson of Xiluva, announced that the party will be registering with the IEC as a political party next week.
Additionally, he said that the new website for the party will also be launched next week.
