FORMER Orlando Pirates legend and Bafana Bafana midfielder John Moeti has passed away at the age of 55.
Popularly known as ”Dunga”, Moeti passed away on Monday morning following an undisclosed illness.
Moeti played for the South African national team Bafana Bafana, Orlando Pirates
and Supersport United.
He was part of the team that won the African Cup of Nations in 1996.
“Dunga” played 29 international games between 1995 and 1999.
At club level, Moeti was in the team that defeated ASEC Mimosas of the Ivory Coast in the final to win the CAF Champions League in 1995.
Former soccer star Marks Maponyane said: ”Condolences to the family, friends and relatives of John Dungi Moeti. May his Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.’’
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said: Go well Dunga, may your family and friends be consoled.’’
Moeti was born on 30 August 1967 in Soweto, south of Johannesburg.
