The GOOD party is on Saturday launching its 2024 Election Manifesto, in Johannesburg, ahead of the National and Provincial General elections taking place on 29 May 2024.

The party’s founder and Minister of Tourism, Patricia de Lille, said the GOOD Manifesto will tackle and devise possible solutions to South Africa’s triple crisis: slow economic growth, poverty and the surge in unemployment, especially youth unemployment.

The GOOD party was formed in 2019, and took part in the 2019 national elections, three months after its formation.

“Despite a late start, GOOD was one the two parties that contested the 2019 elections, to get enough support to win two seats in the National Assembly (Parliament) and enter the Western Cape provincial legislature. We have continued to show significant growth in members and supporters, as is evident in the various by-election outcomes,” she said.

“I have been deeply encouraged by the response and the support that this message of GOOD has prompted in our country. As I said, I want good South Africans, men and women, young and experienced of races to step forward to lead our country.”

On the land issue, the party said it should be handled and managed appropriately. However, De Lille cautioned that land expropriation should be the last resort.

“We stand at the position that public land is for the public good, public land is not a commodity to be privatised and traded within the government. Its first purpose must be to serve the public good.”

The party has made transparent leadership and accountability among its key principles and said it hopes to combat corruption if elected into power.
