Kim Kardashian Slammed For Bragging About Her Lavish Tropical 40th Birthday Vacation Amid Global Pandemic

Must read

KIM Kardashian received an overwhelming amount of backlash online after bragging about the lengths she went to make sure she could enjoy a tropical vacation with her family during the global pandemic.

The 40-year-old reality star shared a host of photos of her family from their getaway to a tropical island for a luxurious retreat in honor of her big day, but was accused of being tone deaf.

Kim admitted the entire family received ‘multiple health screens’ before embarking on the holiday, fans were quick to question if the family even realized the severity of the coronavirus and quarantine lockdown guidelines affecting billions of people around the world.

Followers were completely caught off guard by Kim’s long-winded post detailing the extravagant affair.

She wrote: ’40 and feeling so humbled and blessed.

‘There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter.

‘For my birthday this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today.

‘Before COVID, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment.

After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.

‘We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is. #thisis40’

Twitter was set alight with commentary for the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star as memes flooded the site in between thought-provoking anecdotes.

‘I feel like, maybe, you should not have shared this with us and just kept it to yourself,’ Twitter user @sullypov wrote.

‘People are dying and the rest of us are suffering as we watch the body count rise quarantined in our homes. This is tone deaf and insensitive.’

‘Wow so fun my family still hasn’t met my six month old baby but I’m glad you’re rich,’ user @clhubes wrote.

One user even tweeted to Kardashian that her father ‘didn’t have a funeral’ due to COVID-19 guidelines.

Underneath a meme of Blue Ivy, Twitter user @JanuaryMovie wrote: ‘I’m a school teacher who had to go to the ER two different times because I got COVID pneumonia. I’ve been in bed, on oxygen, for 20 straight days. I don’t even know if my sick leave will cover it. But go ahead and feel blessed.’

To date, more than one million people have died from the coronavirus, with nearly 43million cases accounted for since COVID-19 began spreading in January.

Kim’s own home state of California has tallied more than 17,000 deaths, and Los Angeles County is still in a top lockdown due to surging numbers.

Fans caught on to her tone deaf posts and created their own images with her caption, one of which mocked the Fyre Festival while another poked fun at Tom Hanks’ Cast Away character.

Some famous faces, such as Billy on the Street host Billy Eichner, shared the seemingly tone deaf post with their Twitter followings and made their feelings known.

‘Vote them out,’ tweeted Eichner, 42, referencing to Kim’s husband Kanye West’s failed bid for the presidency.

3rd Rock From The Sun star Kristen Johnston was clearly unsatisfied with Kim’s lengthy justification for throwing a birthday bash amid a global pandemic.

‘Way to read the room, Kim,’ wrote Johnston, 53, who rarely holds back on Twitter when it comes to her opinions regarding the pandemic and the upcoming election.

Kardashian also did not have the support of Better Call Saul’s Michael McKean, who took a hilarious jab at the over the top extravagance of the star’s birthday shindig.

‘And how was the swan cooked?’ quipped the 73-year-old actor, who chose to share the Radio Host Kristie Graybill ruthlessly summed up what she found the overall message of Kardashian’s Twitter thread to be.

‘Dear poor people, Sorry you’re poor but I’m rich and can afford not to stress about millions of people dying,’ began Graybill, who took on Kardashian’s persona for the tweet.

‘Anyway- sucks to be poor lol not me tho. Here is my humble private island pics for you poor people. Xoxo Kim west,’ she concluded, referencing to the slew of photos Kim shared from the week-long trip.

Actress Pia Glenn criticized the KKW Beauty founder for acting as if an exclusive trip to a private island, whether in a pandemic or not, is something the average person is able to experience.

‘Girl who is “us”???!! And “a simple luxury?” This is almost as bad as when she hopped on here a few years back to tell us she just found out about racism,’ tweeted Glenn.

Family Guy star Ralph Garman joked about how thankful he was that Kardashian ‘got a well-deserved break’ from her already luxurious life.

‘Thank God you got a well-deserved break. We all know how hard this year has been on the obscenely rich and obsessively narcissistic,’ tweeted Garman.

Bad Night star Gareth Reynolds poked fun at Kardashian’s alleged plastic surgeries by asking if the people in her birthday photos were her ‘team of plastic surgeons.’
