Gauteng Premier and ANC Chairperson Panyaza Lesufi said the provincial government will create 6 000 jobs every month until 2024 July to assist struggling households.

Lesufi was speaking at the ANC 2019 elections manifesto rally held in Dobsonville in Soweto on Sunday.

The Premiri said it is clear that the government has not fulfilled its commitment to end load shedding, instead power outages have become progressively worse since 2019.

“But we are committing ourselves and the government that I have the honour to lead, that all those communities that have transformers that are broken, stolen, we are going to those communities to install new transformers to ensure they are connected.”

Lesufi called on President Cyril Ramaphosa to send in the army to deal with illegal miners.

“We are under siege from zama zamas. President, bring the fire power of the state, whether it is the army or the police,” he added.

Collen Malatji, the President of the ANCYL said the party is in Soweto to outline some of its achievements since 2019, including the fact that it has built schools and given the people houses with electricity.

But Maltji berated the Minister of Electricity and told him to act saying ‘we need ministers that work’.

He urged the Minister of Police and the Minister of Defence to go and clean out buildings in Johannesburg occupied by illegal migrants.
