Malema Strikes Back At newly-elected ANCVL President Snuki Zikalala

Following a question over the ANC Veterans League President Snuki Zikalala’s insistence that the EFF and the ANC do not share common values, EFF leader Julius Malema said Zikalala has not forgiven the party.

Zikalala told the media last Thursday, that the ANC should never enter into any coalition of governance arrangement with the EFF because the two do not share the same values and traditions.

“We share no values with the EFF, their primary role is to oppose the ANC and we fish from the same pond, we don’t agree with them, their principles, traditions, and they don’t mean good for the country,” Zikala said.

On Wednesday, Malema said Zikalala’s comments were driven by hate from the time when Malema called for his removal as the SABC head of news.

“Who is Snuki anyway? He claims to be part of the struggle in exile, but the man was in Hungary. He claims to have been in Angola, but he was not. He reminds me of that guy who goes to initiation school and goes home in a private jet,” Malema said, questioning Zikalala’s reasoning on the ideological differences between the EFF and the ANC.

Malema’s comments come as the ANC is still pondering which direction to take when it comes to choosing a coalition partner.

Analysts say the ANC will need the EFF in the event the party receives less than 40% of the total vote share in the 2024 National and Provincial elections.

For the EFF, Malema said it prefers a grand oppositional alliance to replace the kleptocracy government which plagues South Africa.
