EFF outcast and founder member Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has resigned from Parliament in what the party says is a voluntary decision, and it has been accepted.
It was not immediately clear if Ndlozi would continue to be a member of the party.
The EFF wished him well in his future endeavours.
Ndlozi was also not immediately available to comment and did not respond to text messages sent to him.
The party also announced the voluntary resignation of Yazini Tetyana, who served in the Eastern Cape provincial legislature before moving to the National Assembly.
“The voluntary requests to be released from deployment, which were sent to the secretary general of the EFF consecutively and within days of each other, expressed gratitude to the EFF for the opportunity to serve the organisation and the people of South Africa.
“The EFF has accepted the respective voluntary requests to be released from deployment of the two Fighters, who have diligently served the organisation in their respective deployments since the EFF has had representation in the legislative sphere,” the party said in a statement on Thursday.
Ndlozi has been an MP since 2014 and the party’s inaugural spokesman. But since the departure of former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambu whom is said to be close to, he has become somewhat of an outcast in the party.
Party leader Julius Malema has also publicly humiliated him, and he was barred from participating in EFF’s recent conference which re-elected Malema.
When asked about the whereabouts of Ndlozi at a media briefing ahead of the conference, Malema went as far as to say that Ndlozi was not bigger than the party. He added that every delegate that was meant to be at the conference was in attendance and those who were not meant to be there were not.
Ndlozi has consistently remained silent and speculation has been rife that he could be on his way to former president Jacob Zuma’s MK Party to join Shivambu.
Several EFF leaders have jumped ship and joined the now official opposition party in the National Assembly. They include founding EFF chairman Advocate Dali Mpofu.
