Acting President David Mabuza has declared a Special Official Funeral for late struggle stalwart Dr. Thandi Cynthia Ndlovu.
This is in honour of her “role and loyal service to the people of South Africa,” a statement from the presidency said.
A Special Official Provincial Funeral Category 2 declaration is for distinguished persons specifically designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa.
Ndlovu died last week Saturday in a car accident in Rustenburg, North West Province.
Mabuza ordered that the National Flag be flown at half-mast at all flag stations in the Gauteng Province until the evening of her burial.
Ndlovu has been described as a freedom fighter who made huge contributions in the advancement of not only black business interests, but of South Africa’s business interests as a whole.
Ndlovu also played an important role in the growth of the African Women Chartered Accountants.
A medical doctor by profession, Ndlovu ventured into the construction industry and her company, Motheo Construction, was well respected within the sector.
Details of the funeral service for Ndlovu will be communicated by the Gauteng Provincial Government.
