A crucial decision on the future of Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane is set to be made in the coming days, the Siya crew has been informed.
According to well-placed sources in Egypt, Mosimane’s time as Al Ahly head coach could be coming to an end.
The coach has enjoyed a successful 20-month spell at the helm of the Red Eagles where he achieved a multitude of trophies including two consecutive CAF Champions League trophies as well as consecutive FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals.
Despite his success with the club and having recently penned a new two-year deal with the Egyptian giants, Mosimane and Al Ahly are understood to be on the verge of parting ways.
As confirmed by the club’s website on Wednesday, Mosimane who is currently in Morocco where he completed his CAF Pro License had a crucial meeting with the club’s President Mahmoud El Khatib about the way forward for the club.
The Egyptian giants also confirmed that a second meeting will be taking place when Mosimane lands in Cairo on Friday and this is where, the Siya crew understands a decision will be made on the future of the 57-year-old.
The Siya crew reached out to Jingles’ representatives, who have not disclosed the details of the meetings.
“We can confirm that a meeting took place on Tuesday evening, 07 June and there is a follow up meeting scheduled for Saturday, 11 June. The meeting details were not disclosed and MT Sports has not yet received the agenda for this Saturday’s meeting. Should there be any developments these will be communicated in due course,” Moira Tlhagale, MD of MT Sports Marketing and Management said to the Siya crew.
Mosimane recently missed out on making it three CAF Champions League wins in three season with Al Ahly, after his side were beaten by Wydad Casablanca, controversially in their own back yard.
