A well-known Limpopo musician arrested on charges of attempted murder is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Lekompo genre musician was arrested on Wednesday following a joint intelligence-driven operation in Bendor, Polokwane.
The arrest took place on Wednesday morning at 09:30, and was carried out by the Provincial Investigation Unit, including the Provincial Tracking Team.
In a statement, police said the arrest was linked to a case of two counts of attempted murder registered at Westernburg police.
The charges emanate from a violent incident that occurred on Sunday, 19 October 2025, along Witklip Street in Ladanna.
The suspect allegedly fired multiple shots at another vehicle during a confrontation with a motorist.
A 34-year-old male occupant of the targeted vehicle sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
The case was investigated by the Westerburg police before being escalated to the Provincial Investigation Unit.
A warrant of arrest was obtained on Tuesday, 11 November, and led to the arrest of the popular musician on Wednesday.
Police also seized the musicians’ vehicles for forensic analysis as part of an ongoing investigation.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the investigation and operational teams for their meticulous work and swift action.
“We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned. The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing,” said Hadebe.
