An urgent application lodged by President Cyril Ramaphosa to have the implementation of remedial action ordered by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane against him suspended, will now be heard in the North Gauteng High Court on Thursday.
The matter relates to Mkhwebane’s finding that Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan, wasn’t authorised to approve the early retirement, with full pension benefits, of former SARS deputy commissioner Ivan Pillay; and whether Ramaphosa unconstitutionally failed to take disciplinary action against Gordhan over Pillay’s payout saga.
The application, which is aimed at suspending her demand for remedial action to be taken, was postponed as there was no judge available Tuesday, eNCA reported.
