President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed a packed crowd in Thabazimbi on Sunday, urging residents to vote for the ANC in the upcoming by-elections on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Siyanqoba Rally in Regorogile township, Thabazimbi, Waterberg Region, Ramaphosa reiterated the ANC’s commitment to improving local governance and addressing the community’s concerns.

“This is an important by-election for the ANC,” Ramaphosa told supporters.

“We are here to demonstrate the support we continue to have among the residents of Thabazimbi and our dedication to delivering on their aspirations.”

Ramaphosa outlined the party’s vision for the municipality, pledging reforms to attract investors, create jobs, and improve service delivery.

“I want to see Thabazimbi led by the ANC, attracting investors, and benefiting local communities, with women and youth as key players,” he said.

“I want to see Thabazimbi having a proper municipality. I want to see Thabazimbi led by the African National Congress. I want to see Thabazimbi being able to attract investors to create jobs.”

Ramaphosa also spelled out the party’s broader strategy to strengthen state capacity and governance at municipal levels.

“The reforms we have implemented will ensure improved governance across all municipalities,” he assured ANC supporters.

As the rally concluded, Ramaphosa called on residents to show up in large numbers on Wednesday.

“Let us make sure that all of us come out in great numbers to vote for the ANC,” he urged.

The rally marked the ANC’s final push in what promises to be a closely watched by-election, with all eyes on whether the party can secure victory in this critical region.

“I have a positive sense that the ANC here in Thabazimbi is standing strong to win all the wards where we have fielded candidates,” sad Ramaphosa.

The upcoming by-elections in Thabazimbi on December 4, come after the municipality’s dissolution in August, necessitating fresh elections across the municipality’s 12 wards and 57 voting districts.

The dissolution of the Thabazimbi Local Municipality has left all leadership positions vacant, making the upcoming by-election on 4 December a critical event for the local community.

The Thabazimbi Local Municipality, now set to elect 24 councilors, will fill 12 ward seats and 12 PR seats during the by-election.

The by-election has heightened political activity in the Waterberg region, with parties vying to secure leadership in the strategically located municipality.

In the past few days, notable leaders visiting the area included MK Deputy President John Hlophe, EFF Limpopo Chairperson Lawrence Mapoulo and DA Leader John Steenhuisen, who rallied supporters ahead of the by-election.
