IT was not a full house at the FNB Stadium in Joburg for the ANC ’Siyanqoba’ rally - the party’s final push to galvanize supporters to vote in their numbers.

With less than four days to go before the most crucial elections since 1994, tens of thousands of party supporters descended to the Soccer City to hear the final message from party leader and President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Despite providing top musicians regarded as crowd-pullers for the rally, after lunch there were still notably empty seats around the stadium.

As colourful groups paraded around the stadium to thunderous applause, on stage Ramaphosa could be seen grim faced, perhaps worried about attendance figures.

Led by an MKMVA group, others dressed in their colourful ANC colours complimented with bits of traditional attire, toured the stadium waving liberation movement flags.

The Amabhinca group led by controversial former SABC DJ Ngizwe Mchunu got a lukewarm welcome before ANC chairman Gwede Mantashe got the programme underway.

After messages of support from the party’s alliance partners, Ramaphosa will deliver the keynote address.

Musicians, the likes of, Makhadzi, Cassper Nyovest, Gatsheni and many others are lined up to provide entertainment.
