THE air is filled with excitement, singing, whistling and vuvuzelas as supporters of the Economic Freedom Fighters arrive en masse at FNB Stadium, one of the biggest stadiums in Johannesburg.

In a sea of red, yellow and black, EFF supporters from across the country, have arrived in hundreds of buses, flock to the stadium, ready to show their support for their Commander-In-Chief Julius Malema in celebration of the party’s 10th Anniversary.

While obviously a lot of people are pouring into the gates, with even more expected to arrive during the course of the day, logistics have been taken care of, with both private security and metro police officials facilitating a smooth progress of people from the parking lot to the turnstiles.

There was a jovial atmosphere as jubilant and happy supporters, with some bringing food and blankets and clearly ready for a day of celebrations.

The rally is a culmination of a number of events including a carnival last weekend in Alexandra, Johannesburg, a public lecture addressed by Kenyan academic Professor Patrick Lumumba, as well as a commemoration of the 2012 Marikana Massacre earlier this week.

Proceedings are expected to kick off at noon with EFF CIC Julius Malema scheduled to speak at 14:00 hours by tracing the party’s progression from its establishment in 2013 in Soweto to becoming the third largest party in the country commanding approximately 10% of the popular vote.

In addition, supporters will also be entertained by popular musicians including Makadzi, Ami Faku, Emtee and Young Stunna amongst others.
