South African footballers Shaun Bartlett and Teko Modise were outside the FNB Stadium ahead of the popular Soweto derby match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
Part of the build-up to one of the country’s most anticipated fixtures, the two former stars reflected on their special moments in the derby, sharing memories that continue to resonate with fans across generations.
Bartlett, a former Kaizer Chiefs striker and Bafana Bafana legend, recalled the intensity and pressure of playing in front of tens of thousands of passionate supporters. He highlighted a draw, describing how the atmosphere inside the stadium made every touch of the ball feel monumental.
Modise, who starred for Orlando Pirates and later Mamelodi Sundowns, spoke about the thrill of facing Chiefs in the derby.
