Zondo report ‘not even worth the paper’ it’s written on, says irate Zuma

THE findings by the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture was based on a one-sided investigation and are not worth the paper they are written on, the Jacob Zuma Foundation said on Wednesday.

The foundation said its patron rejected any purported findings by Judge Raymond Zondo which were made without affording him the most basic human right to be heard.

“It is now well known that H.E President Zuma was denied the opportunity of a neutral platform to put his side of the story in the so-called Zondo Commission,” the foundation’s statement read.

“The application for the review and setting aside of the refusal by Judge Zondo to recuse himself, despite the relationship between him and [former] president Zuma, which he has recently and inadvertently confirmed during the Chief Justice interviews, is a matter which is still pending before the courts.”

The commission handed part three of the state capture report to the Presidency on Tuesday.

The commission found reasonable grounds to suspect Zuma’s relationship with Bosasa was in breach of his constitutional obligations.

The report alleges that Bosasa paid R300,000 monthly to the Jacob Zuma Foundation.

The bulk of the evidence against Zuma was brought by Bosasa’s former chief operations officer, Angelo Agrizzi.

Zuma will study the findings and consult his lawyers about what to do next.

Zuma, at the beginning of February last year, made it clear that he would defy the order of the highest court in the land, and would not co-operate with the Zondo commission, which he set up in 2018, even if it meant going to jail.

The former president alleged that he was the target of “propaganda, vilification and falsified claims” because of his stance on the transformation of the country and its economy.
