The firearm case against British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, also known as Mark, was on Wednesday postponed to 27 August 2026 by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court to allow police to complete outstanding investigations.

British authorities have submitted a provisional request for Tshuma’s extradition from South Africa to face three murder charges for the deaths of his wife and two young daughters.

Tshuma, who is facing a South African charge of unlawful possession of a firearm, abandoned his bail application and will remain in custody while the investigation continues. The State said the outstanding investigations included ballistic results and chain-of-custody statements.

The defence did not oppose the postponement and confirmed that it would not be applying for bail.

During proceeding on Wednesday, the State said Tshuma was a fugitive as he left the United Kingdom shortly before the bodies of his wife and daughters were discovered.

Tshuma was arrested in Kensington, Johannesburg, last week during a joint operation involving the SAPS Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit.

Authorities allege that Tshuma left the United Kingdom through Heathrow Airport on 4 July. The bodies of his wife and daughters were discovered at the family’s home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, on 7 July.

Tshuma was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm at the time of his arrest, leading to the local criminal charge.

He remains in custody pending his next court appearance.
