Only a few hours remain before voting stations across South Africa close for the final voter registration weekend, with the Electoral Commission (IEC) urging eligible citizens to register or update their details before the 5pm deadline ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
All 23,699 voting stations nationwide will remain open until 5pm on Sunday, giving voters a final opportunity to register for the elections or update their voting district information.
IEC Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sy Mamabolo said the commission was encouraged by the public response over the registration weekend but urged those who had not yet registered to make use of the remaining time.
