GAUTENG Premier David Makhura’s appointment of Dr Thembi Mokgethi as the new MEC for Social Development has been given the thumbs up by the ruling party in the province.
Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has been acting in the position since the passing of former MEC Thuli Nkabinde-Khawe.
Mokgethi is currently serving member of the Legislature in the Human Settlement, Petitions and Infrastructure Portfolio Committees.
The ANC Gauteng said Mokgethi’s appointment will add to the already diverse and highly competent team in the Gauteng Executive Council.
“Comrade Dr Thembi Mokgethi brings with her a wealth of organizational and government experience and expertise. She is currently serving in the 6th Legislature from 2019 as MPL and Chairperson of COGTA and Human Settlementn as well as serving on Scopa and Standing Committee on Chair of Chairs,” the ANC said in a statement congratulating Mokgethi.
