President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 7pm on Tuesday about government’s response to gender-based violence and femicide, following a series of murders of women in Ekurhuleni.
The Presidency said Ramaphosa would outline steps being taken by government to confront GBVF and provide an update on investigations into the killings.
At least 12 women have been killed or found dead across Ekurhuleni since July, although SAPS has cautioned that investigators have not established that all the cases are linked.
Police have established a multidisciplinary investigation involving detectives, forensic specialists, Crime Intelligence and investigative psychologists. A suspect has also been arrested in connection with one of the killings.
The address comes amid mounting concern over violence against women and calls for stronger action against GBVF.
