Suspended deputy national police commissioner Shadrack Sibiya’s wife, Sizakele Dlamini, has claimed that the father of a 16-year-old complainant wanted to withdraw the case but was pressured by Crime Intelligence head Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo and KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi to pursue it.
Sibiya’s bail application resumed in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where Dlamini’s supporting affidavit was admitted as an exhibit.
She said the complainant, referred to as Mr M, had allegedly sought to approach the family through an assistant pastor known as the “Apostle”.
According to Dlamini, the Apostle told her that Mr M had become troubled after seeing Sibiya weeping in court and wanted to speak to the family about withdrawing the charges.
“Mr M had seen the applicant weeping in court on the previous day and that this had troubled him,” Dlamini said in the affidavit.
