THE ANC has vowed to take legal action against members responsible for leaking audio clips of the special national executive committee (NEC) meeting on Saturday, spokesperson Pule Mabe has confirmed.
The ANC has also expressed concern over leaks of its internal meetings.
The warning comes after the leaks exposed how the suspension of ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule had deepened division within the governing party, with senior leader Dakota Legoete urging his fellow NEC to discuss the letter Magashule wrote to suspend President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Legoete can also be heard in the audio clip pleading with Ramaphosa to “be the President of the ANC and not the President of a faction”.
Legoete’s accusation against Ramaphosa is a clear signal that the ANC was torn into various factions competing for power within the party.
