DEPUTY President David Mabuza has requested President Cyril Ramaphosa to take a few days of leave for a scheduled medical consultation in Russia.
“This consultation is a follow-up to previous medical consultations that the Deputy President received from the Russian Federation,” said Mabuza’s spokesperson, Matshepo Seedat, in a statement on Saturday.
“The Deputy President will continue with the responsibilities that have been entrusted to him upon the end of the leave period.”
Three years ago, Mabuza visited Russia to receive medical treatment for an alleged poisoning episode.
Following an outcry over his controversial trip to Russia, Mabuza admitted in Parliament that he indeed flew on a Gupta-linked private jet, but said that he was too ill to attend to the full details of the trip.
