DEPUTY Minister of Human Settlements Pam Tshwete has hailed progress made in fast-tracking the issuing of title deeds in Mangaung Metro Municipality, Free State Province.
Tshwete was speaking on Friday during the handover of more than 200 title deeds to beneficiaries in Heidedal, Bloemfontein.
“I am impressed by the cooperation between the Province and Metro Municipality in advancing the issuing of title deeds, I am happy with the interventions in dealing with bottlenecks,” said Tshwete.
Last month, Tshwete made a commitment during the Presidential Imbizo to assist the Free State Province in accelerating the issuing of title deeds.
Mangaung Metro Municipality has a backlog of more than 10 000 title deeds as a result of challenges experienced during the verification processes which includes, people who are untraceable and have abandoned their allocated sites, beneficiaries that have passed on and do not have Wills resulting in unresolved estates.
“I would also like to encourage people to have a legal document called a Will, so that when they pass on there are no problems and avoid estate disputes”, added Tshwete.
