ECONOMIC Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says the red berets have submitted to Parliament questions to Cyril Ramaphosa in terms of National Assembly Rule 145 in order to hold him accountable for the Phala Phala Farm burglary and the theft of R60 million.

Malema also called on Ramaphosa to leave his office because he has not respected his oath of office.

The EFF leader was addressing a press conference held at the Winnie Madikizela Mandela House in Braamfontein on Tuesday.

“If Ramaphosa refuses to step aside to allow transparent investigations to take place, the EFF will then mobilise many sectors of society to stop recognising him as a President of the Republic and we will not permit him to perform any Presidential functions,” said Malema.

He added: “No policeman will investigate a sitting president who has violated laws in order to avoid justice. Ramaphosa has established himself as an individual who will go to great length to avoid accountability and his going to continue to stay as a president while this matter is being investigated will jeopardise his case.”

The theft at Ramaphosa’s property came to light last week after former spy boss Arthur Fraser opened a criminal case against the president, accusing him of kidnapping and bribery.

Fraser claimed millions of dollars were stolen from the farm.

He alleges Ramaphosa sent people to find and interrogate the suspects and later paid the culprits to keep them quiet.

Malema added that the EFF was concerned with “the collaboration between Ramaphosa and the President of Namibia, Heige Geingob, which saw Ramaphosa unleash his personal thugs to track down suspects in Namibia, after the robbery on his farm, with the aid of the Namibian President.”
