Ntshavheni receives resignation of ICASA chairperson Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng

THE Independent Communications Authority of South Africa( ICASA) chairperson Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng has resigned.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies Khumbudzo Ntshavheni’s office said her office has received and accepted the resignation of Modimoeng.

Modimoeng will serve notice until July 15 2022 to ensure smooth handover and transition.

Ntshavheni said she was grateful to Modimoeng for his service to the regulator and the country that spans over six years.

It is under his leadership that the regulator successfully concluded one of the most critical milestones for the country, the auction of the high demand communications frequency spectrum.

“I wish Dr Modimoeng well in his future endeavours” Ntshavheni.

Modimoeng joined Icasa in April 2016 and during that time has served as an ordinary councillor as well acting chair and chair of the authority.
