THE asbestos corruption case against suspended ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule and 15 co-accused was on Friday postponed to January 20 2023 by the High Court in Bloemfontein, Free State.
Magashule and 15 co-accused are facing fraud, corruption and money laundering charges relating to the alleged irregular awarding of a R255m asbestos contract.
Magashule is accused together with 15 individuals and companies, including businessman Edwin Sodi and Free State human settlements department head Nthimotse Mokhesi.
The companies are said to have benefited improperly from a tender issued in 2014.
Outside court, Magashule told the media he would avail himself for nomination when the ANC hold its National Elective Conference.
Magashule and his supporters said his case was politically motivated, adding that the continued postponements of the multi-million rand asbestos case seeks to prevent him from attending the party’s 55th National Elective Conference in December.
