The EFF’s CIC Julius Malema, has kept his promise to identify and disgrace the party’s public representatives who failed to organise transportation for members wanting to attend the party’s 10th Anniversary Rally on Saturday at the FNB Stadium in Joburg.
The list of more than 400 members includes members of Parliament Vusi Khoza, Phiwaba Madokwe, Brenda Mathevula and Slindile Luthuli was listed in a press statement wherein Malema also vowed further action to be taken against them after the rally.
Earlier Malema had announced at a press briefing that the party’s public representatives who failed to heed the transport directive will not be allowed to attend the rally.
The directive for organisers to raise funds for transportation was issued in January and therefore, they had six months to come up with the funds and the deadline was also extended by a month, Malema said.
“It must be noted that the initial deadline for submissions of organised transportation by all Public Representatives was Wednesday, 31st May 2023,” the EFF said in a statement.
“Upon consideration and reflection, the organisation granted an extension, extending the deadline to Friday, 30th of June 2023. This means that all Public Representatives had six months to organise transport for their constituencies, with a one-month extension granted. Those who failed to comply did so under this context.”
Scores of EFF supporters from all nine provinces are expected to fill up FNB Stadium near Soweto on Saturday in what has been termed “a festival of the poor”.
The party has held various celebrations in a build-up to the main event including donations to orphanages, the launch of a stage play Leruo, art exhibitions and a music album.
