THE Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced 3 to 4 February 2024 as the dates for the second and final voter registration weekend in preparation for next year’s National General Elections.
The IEC said in a statement, the country’s 23, 296 voting stations will open from 8H00 to 17H00 to allow new voters to register and existing voters to check and if necessary, update their registration details.
The IEC said after the last registration in November, the voters’ roll contains 26.8 million voters and 568,374 of those registering to vote for the first time.
South African citizens aged 16 and older can register to vote. All they need is a South African Identity Document (ID), either a green barcoded ID book, smartcard ID or a valid temporary ID certificate, the IEC said.
When registering, voters will need to provide their address or a description of where they live
