Speculation is rife that former South African President Jacob Zuma is starting a new political party following an announcement that there will be a media briefing on Saturday where he would discuss his “political future”.
Local news outlets have speculated that Zuma may quit the ruling African National Congress (ANC) to start his own party.
Inside Politics put questions to the JZ Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi but he said he is unable to confirm or deny the allegations that Zuma is set to start a new political party.
“As a Foundation we do not provide commentary on our Patron and founder’s political activities. So I am unable to confirm the speculations,” Manyi said.
On Saturday, Zuma will participate in activities celebrating 62 years of MK military veterans in Soweto, Gauteng.
Political commentators say Zuma may use the same event at Petrus Molefe Eco Park so that he has started a new political party.
