THE ruling party has officially suspended former President Jacob Zuma as a result of his latest actions where he is publicly campaigning for the uMkhonto we Sizwe party.
The suspension was announced by the National Executive Committee at their Lekgotla, held at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni on Monday.
This follows reports arising over the weekend that the party intended to suspend Zuma, however, the suspension is only expected to be processed after the 2024 national and provincial elections.
Following processing by the NEC, Zuma will have 48 hours to respond to the allegations and contribute his representation of the matter.
Rumours suggested that the initial decision was for Zuma’s branch in Nkandla to suspend his membership, but it later emerged that the branch was not in good standing.
