Limpopo social development MEC Florence Radzilani says she is committed to improving care for the elderly in the province.
“Each older person deserves to live with dignity and respect. We must ensure that our elderly citizens are receiving proper care and support,” she said.
The MEC has embarked on a province-wide tour of elderly care facilities, responding to rising concerns regarding the living conditions of senior citizens.
The initiative, which started on Tuesday, aims to enhance the quality of life for the province’s elderly population, and coincides with the Social Development Month.
She is expected to engage with staff and residents, assess facilities and discuss the challenges faced by old age homes.
“It is critical that we listen to the voices of our older population and consider their needs in our social development programmes,” she said.
She visited the Waterberg district on Tuesday, starting at Waterberg Old Age Home, followed by visits to the Phagameng Service Centre and the Mookgophong Service Centre.
