The handing over of 2000 title deeds in Gauteng is crucial for empowering communities through service delivery, according to Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi.
“This is a document that’s bringing dignity to you. You are part of the economic activity of our country,” he said during the handovers.
“The title deeds give you permission to participate in the economy, and we as the provincial government, want to congratulate you on your security of tenure.”
Lesufi and human settlements MEC Tasneem Motara were in the Lesedi Local Municipality on Tuesday to hand over the title deeds.
Motara emphasised the importance of this initiative as part of the department’s commitment to ensuring secure property ownership for all.
“This move will ensure security for the future through having property. It is more than just a piece of paper; it represents stability, dignity and a place to call home,” the MEC said.
She said the department was dedicated to transforming communities and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
“This title deed handover is a testament to our commitment to building a brighter future for the people of Gauteng,” she added.
Lesufi and Motara handed over 951 title deeds in Impumelelo Extension 4 and 949 title deeds in Obed Mthombeni Nkosi Extension 3.
