President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the eulogy at the special state official funeral of former finance minister Tito Mboweni Nkowankowa Stadium in Tzaneen, Limpopo, on Saturday.
Mboweni, who passed away a week ago at the age of 65, was a stalwart of South Africa’s democratic government.
His distinguished career spanned various key roles, including labour minister from 1994 to 1999, SA Reserve Bank governor from 1999 to 2009, and finance minister under Ramaphosa from 2018 to 2021.
Ramaphosa declared a Special Official Funeral Category 2 in recognition of Tito Mboweni’s significant contributions to the country earlier this week.
The funeral service, which starts at 10am, will feature ceremonial elements provided by the South African Police Service.
The president directed that the national flag be flown at half-mast at all flag stations from Wednesday morning until Saturday night.
The funeral service will be attended by dignitaries, government officials and members of the public.
