South Africa and Nigeria have held their 11th historic Bi-National Commission in Cape Town to enhance their bilateral relations.
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola praised the relationship between the two countries, saying it symbolised a strong bond of cooperation and solidarity.
“This year marks 30 years since our two countries established diplomatic relations, following decades of Nigeria’s relentless support for the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa, a gesture we will always cherish,” Lamola said in a statement on Monday.
He said that while there had been progress in boosting their relationship, more work was needed.
“One of the overriding imperatives of our bilateral relations is the need to increase our investment and trade relations to higher levels,” said Lamola.
