The SA Police Service in Gauteng is offering a R60,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the third suspect who is wanted for the murder of Inkatha Freedom Party deputy chief whip Khethamabala Sithole.

He was gunned down on 31 May 2025 during a community meeting at Buyafuthi Hostel in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni.

According to police, a group of assailants opened fire on the gathering, killing Sithole on the scene and injuring two others.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said in a statement on Thursday that the suspect, Zamani Ngila Ximba, was also wanted for the attempted murder of the two injured individuals.

Police have circulated Ximba’s photo on social media and described him as tall, dark in complexion and considered armed and very dangerous.

Earlier on Thursday, the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, each facing one charge of murder and two of attempted murder.

Khethakuthula Sithole and Nontando Ximba reportedly abandoned their bid to apply for bail.

They are back in court on 29 July.

Masondo said anyone with information should call Major General Mbuso Khumalo on 082-556-8642 or Captain Abe Montoedi on 082-461-4794. All received information would be treated as confidential.
