Media statement
The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) strongly condemns the unauthorised and disruptive protest action led by OUTA outside its head offices on 31 July 2025.
The gathering, which occurred without proper notification and approval by the Metro in terms of the Regulation of Gatherings Act of 1993, interfered with CETA’s operations and created an unsafe environment for staff arriving at work, including attempts to block employees from entering the premises.
As a precaution, law enforcement officers were called to assess the legality of the protest. Upon engagement hearing enforcement authorities were on their way, the protest group vacated the premises and fled away.
Unauthorised gatherings that disrupt institutional operations and compromise the safety of staff cannot be tolerated.
CETA will continue to uphold its mandate without interference or intimidation by any organisation, worst for ne with no locus standi in law on matters of the SETAs.
